The term "optic flow" can refer to a common visual phenomenon:
the appearance that things and people around us give of moving when it is we that are moving. Most obviously, when you travel in a car or a train, trees, the ground, buildings, seen through the window, appear to move backwards.
The speed of optic flow is differential and related to the distance of the apparently moving thing from the observer.
